The British Embassy and British Council is pleased to announce the 12 finalists for the Study UK Alumni Awards 2022-23 in Saudi Arabia. The finalists were selected from around 100 applicants for their outstanding achievements as business professionals, entrepreneurs and community leaders, and for their important contribution to strengthening collaborative ties between the UK and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The three award winners will be announced at a ceremony hosted by the British Ambassador on 6 March 2023.
Eilidh Kennedy McLean, Director of the British Council in Saudi Arabia said: ‘The Study UK Alumni Awards provide a platform for recognising and celebrating the success of Saudi alumni of UK Universities. Their achievements are wide-ranging and inspirational, and which are directly contributing to the realisation of Vision 2030 goals and aspirations.
This prestigious international award celebrates UK higher education and the achievements of UK alumni all over the world. Now in its sixth year, the award received from around 1000 applicants from international UK alumni in more than 100 countries, representing more than 120 UK higher education institutions across the UK.’
The finalists of the Science and Sustainability Award, which recognises alumni who have distinguished themselves through their career and achievements in the world of science and sustainability are:
- Dr. Mohammed Alhefzi - Swansea University (Prifysgol Abertawe)
- Dr. Noura AlOtaibi - University of Glasgow
- Prof. Hani AlHadrami - University of Aberdeen, University of Liverpool
The finalists of the Culture and Creativity Award which highlights alumni who have carved a career for themselves in arts and culture are:
- Dr. Eithar Alangari - University of Liverpool, Durham University
- Dr. Muhammad Alzaidi - University of Essex
- Mr. Sultan Almujaiwel - University of Exeter
The finalists of the Social Action Award, which acknowledges alumni who have made an exceptional contribution and commitment to creating positive social change and improving the lives of others, are:
- Dr. Reham Fakieh - Manchester Metropolitan University, University of Sheffield
- Dr. Abdulrahman Alshabeb - University of Wolverhampton, University of Salford
- Ms. Abeer Gari - Swansea University (Prifysgol Abertawe)
The finalists of the Business and Innovation Award, which recognising alumni who are active in initiating and contributing to innovative or creative new ideas, solutions or business opportunities, are:
- Mr. Raed Abudawood - University of Manchester
- Dr. Soloman Almadi - Brunel University London
- Dr. Abdullah Alotaibi - Brunel University London, University of Kent
This is the ninth year to host the Awards in Saudi Arabia and will be followed by awarding ceremonies in a further seven countries, including, Pakistan, Kuwait and Turkey.
