Dr Abeer is a medical geneticist at Sultan Qaboos University in Oman, who is driven by her passion to find cures for rare diseases. She currently heads up a team of about 65 doctors, nurses, scientists and other health professionals. In 2010-2012, she obtained a fellowship in Cancer Genetics and Imprinting disorders at Wessex Clinical Genetics Service of Southampton University Hospitals Trust. Today, she looks after clinical service, labs, and undergraduate and postgraduate education at the university. Quite the portofolio!
Dr Abeer is passionate about education and her many goals include further developing the genetics lab in the university and improving the quality of education for her students so that they get a state of the art education in Oman.
Her current research focusses on colorectal cancer in Omani patients using whole genome expression microarray analysis.
