About

In response to Saudi Arabia’s 2030 Vision, The British Council Saudi Arabia has successfully delivered many projects last year to help support the country’s vision and the growing sector. Amongst these, we have conducted a workshop in Saudi run by London Film School, undertaken a film skills research that mapped the skills need in the country and was released in September, and following that we have delivered a round table that gathered industry professionals and academics from the sector to discuss the research. Furthermore, The British Council has supported 8 filmmakers to attend Sheffield international Documentary Film Festival early June 2019 that included a pitch training workshop delivered by the former head of the European Documentary Network, Producer/Owner of Congoo production company, Paul Pauwels.

Continuing in our work in films, we are delighted to conduct a one-hour webinar moderated by Paul Pauwels, who will give a brief on Sheffield Festival and discuss with Sheffield participants and find out how they look back upon their experience, what practical output they have gotten from both experiences and how their projects have evolved since then. In the hope that their experiences could inspire students and other aspiring documentary filmmakers in the country.
