Dr. Adnan Alahmadi is the Head of the Diagnostic Radiology Department at King Abdulaziz University. He is a member of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties scientific committee and working on establishing a national diagnostic centre. Dr. Adnan is also an honorary research fellow at the Institute of Neurology at University College London (UCL). He teaches undergraduate courses in Saudi Arabia on basic and advanced MRI. Dr. Adnan was a key researcher at UCL and collaborated with different world-class laboratories, such as the Queen Square Multiple Sclerosis Centre at UCL, Welcome trust at UCL, University of Genoa in Italy and University of Pavia in Italy. His work involved developing an advanced methodology to establish advanced functional biomarkers in neurodegenerative diseases. He completed his study (master and PHD) in the UK at the Institute of Neurology at University College London.
He describes his time at UCL as exceptional, from the learning environment to the provision of state of the art research facilities. Dr. Adnan was able to publish over 33 projects ranging from conference papers in international conferences (traveling around the world) and in high impact journals. Dr. Adnan is keen to transfer what he saw and learned in the UK to his home country and its students, both from an educational point of view and for non-academic activities. He is also in the process of establishing a collaboration with his university (KAU) and UCL as a way of strengthening bilateral research links between the two Kingdoms.
