Dr Waleed Alsalem received his MSc and PhD from Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.

Being named one of the top five Saudi researchers studying in the UK, Dr. Waleed Alsalem has received his PhD and MSc degrees from Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. He is the CEO of the National Health Laboratory (NHL) at the Minsitry of Health and a voluntary advisor at KSHARC.  Dr Waleed implemented an ambitious three year plan in the NHL that involved reorganising its entire structure. His efforts have enabled the laboratory to accomplish feats such as receiving and processing 300,000 newborn tests annually for metabolic disorders. Dr. Waleed has also established seven national biosecurity reference centers within the NHL.  As a volunteer, Dr. Waleed joined the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief centre as a voluntary advisor for cholera management to assess, manage and address outbreaks.
