Smart-Health partnerships are led by Dr. Farhan Alshahrani. Farhan joined KAUST in 2012 and has directed innovative partnerships, research parks, tenant relations, and strategic projects. Previously, Farhan worked for Saudi Aramco R&D for 20 years, filing over 25 patents. He also founded Aramco R&DC at KAUST. Farhan earned a BSc/MSc at KFUPM and a PhD from Oxford. President of the National Technology Transfer Network and Vice President of the Gulf Petrochemical and Chemical Association's R&I Committee (GPCA).

 Sponsored by Saudi Aramco, Dr. Farhan Alshahrani had the privilege of working with late Prof. Malcolm Green on oxidative desulfurization thesis which resulted in several papers and 2 patents. While there, Dr. Farhan worked closely with Dr. Tiancun Xiao who launched the Oxford Catalysis Ltd. Farhan was also active in launching the Saudi Oxford Society, chaired the technical committee of the 2007 Saudi Student Conference in the UK and received the Innovation Award.
