Join the Saudi UK Alumni board to get the opportunity to contribute to the planning and directing the Saudi network future activities and events.

  • Appointment term: 2 years starting 2019
  • Estimated monthly contribution: 5-8 hours 
  • Attending all board meetings reoccurring every month or quarter
  • Alumni board members should whenever possible take an advisory role to shape the theme and type of engagement with network members
  • Alumni board members are expected to actively promote the network to relevant potential members and key influencers

Alumni Board Members Roles

Role

Role Description and Responsibilities

Board Chair

Chair board planning and execution meetings. Ensure Network activities are carried out effectively and professionally. Support board members where needed. 

 

Board Co-Chair and Development Manager

Fulfill the duties of the chair in their absence. Assist the chair in their duties when requested. Assist Chair and British Council with communication with board members and preparing meetings agenda and logistics. Increase active members of the Network.

 

Events & Activities lead

 

Assist in planning and advising Alumni activities and informing people of upcoming events through personal and professional networks, email and social media. Support with general Alumni campaigns. Support Board members where needed.

 

Alumni Relations Officer

 

Suggest themes for network activities. Find speakers and trainers for local activities. Help in enhancing alumni attendance and engagement. 

 

Communication & Sponsorship Lead

 

Work with British Council and Board members to secure additional funding for events, coordinate sponsorships, and in-kind donations. Making recommendations for future Partnerships. Proactively seeking, identifying and recommending opportunities for partnership.

 

 

In addition to that, board members are expected to take on specific roles assigned prior to any event. These roles may include:

  1. To actively promote upcoming alumni events to potential members
  2. To actively organise budgets for alumni events - to support the committee in securing sponsorships – funds and in-kind sponsorship to ensure the sustainability of the programme
  3. To actively promote LinkedIn group to potential members and contribute to its content
  4. To represent the alumni network with the local press /media
  5. To act as an MC during the alumni networking events
  6. To take on the lead in organising alumni activities/events 
  7. To work with British Council and British Embassy team to produce alumni stories to inspire the next generation 

Selection Criteria:

  • Self-motivated
  • Leadership skills 
  • Communication skills
  • Advocacy on behalf of UK education
  • Commitment and availability to meet the expected duties listed above 

Timeline

  • 19 May - Call for applications
  • 8 June - Deadline for applications at 12 midnight (KSA time)
  • 28 July (Tentative) - First introductory meeting – Riyadh
  • 30 July (Tentative) - First introductory meeting – Jeddah
