English levels for children
Early Years levels
Early Years children are placed in the appropriate class according to their exposure to English as well as their age at the start of the course.
Primary levels
Children in Primary levels will:
- be placed in the most suitable Primary level following a consultation with an experienced Young Learner teacher
- learn English while receiving all the individual attention and opportunities they need to express themselves in a fun and supportive atmosphere
- increase their confidence and interest in English
- enjoy lessons that include songs, stories, games and activities which are specially designed for children at the Primary age
- learn and practise a wide range of language functions and vocabulary
- be exposed to natural language through activities giving them a real purpose to communicate in familiar and meaningful situations
- extend their knowledge of the world
- continue to develop knowledge of core school subjects to build on their learning
- have their level monitored through continuous assessment to ensure the appropriate challenge level
- have their progress assessed by our experienced teachers’ recommendations.
Secondary levels
Children in secondary levels will:
- be placed in the most suitable level following a consultation with an experienced Young Learner teacher
- learn English while receiving all the individual attention and opportunities they need to express themselves in a fun and supportive atmosphere
- increase their confidence and interest in the English language at an appropriate challenge level
- learn and practise a wide range of language functions and vocabulary
- cover all aspects of communication – listening, speaking, reading and writing through interaction, games and activities
- build on their existing knowledge of English
- further develop their problem-solving and other 21st century skills
- continue to build their understanding of universal values and behaviours
- extend their knowledge of the world and English as a global language
- have their level continually monitored to ensure the appropriate challenge level
- have their progress based on our experienced teachers’ recommendations.
