UK Alumni Awards Finalist 2023

Eithar Alangari is the Vice President of Applied Programs at Shaqra University. Eithar’s role has been influential in establishing the newly structured Applied College, which is part of the nation-wide initiative of applied education by the Saudi Ministry of Education (MoE).

Eithar’s experience at Durham and Liverpool universities provided her with qualities and skills that are necessary to activating her role as a VP, Assistant Professor and executive committees’ member: leadership, strategy and policymaking, resilience, scholarly rigour and commitment.

Eithar is now transferring her knowledge and expertise to Applied Programs around Saudi Arabia and is contributing to advancing and regulating the translation sector in Saudi Arabia (supervised by the Saudi Ministry of Culture).

UK education offers a great space for creativity and independent learning, which were particularly relevant to overcoming significant challenges throughout my PhD journey: losing my primary supervisor and working under the conditions of Covid-19. My experience at two leading British universities has shaped the way I perceive research, higher education teaching and empowering young students.
